Our history in Greece

In 1996, Newrest began operating in Greece, in several Greek islands, serving its dedicated network customer profile. Newrest Hellas expanded to Thessaloniki and in 2001, invested at Athens International Airport.

In 2006, Newrest Group acquired Abela Catering Hellas. Bringing these two companies together was a strategic achievement for Newrest due to the complementary strengths of both entities: Newrest with its European clientele and Abela adding the long-haul airline experience. In this way, the merging of the operations, infrastructure and staff created added-value and made it a market leader.

At the same time, Newrest has developed a large customer portfolio in Contract Catering sector with strategic partnerships that have been maintained to date, and with continued investment in innovative ideas and expertise, it maintains a large market share in this field.

Athens Central Production Unit (CPU)

In 2001, Newrest Group started the operation of the central production unit in Athens International Airport Elefhterios Venizelos.

The unit operates in contract catering with companies and organizations as well as in in-flight catering and provides lounge services for Aegean Airlines, Lufthansa and Skyserv.

Newrest Athens Unit is certified with ISO 22000:2018, ISO 9001:2015, 45001:2018, ISO 14001:2015 and Halal certification.

Thessaloniki Unit

Newrest Greece opened its Thessaloniki unit in 1996. It’ s main activity is in-flight catering and provides lounge services for Aegean Airlines.

Newrest, also, offers catering services to companies and administrations.

The unit is certified with: ISO 22000:2018, ISO 14001:2015.

Chania Unit

Unit startup: 2001

Its main activity is in-flight catering. The unit is certified with ISO 22000:2018 and ISO 14001:2015.

Herakleion Unit

Unit startup: 1996

The main activity of the unit is in-flight catering.
The unit is certified with ISO 22000:2018 & ISO 14001:2015.

Rhodes unit

Unit startup: 1996

The main activity of this unit is in-flight catering.
The unit is certified with ISO 22000:2018, ISO 14001:2015
